so this morning i woke up at 530 to be ready for the huge rush of making my schedule!! I had everything planned out an dready to go. What i was not ready for is thta 2 of my classes were closed, so i had to chose another class to take. mY advisor that i met with was not too helpful so I was confused on what class to take. I chose an english course for intro studies to english...i though since i will be teaching it to elementry students i should know the basics. Hopefully this class will come in handy and not be a waste of time. The rest of my schedule is actually pretty decent:)

ON THE BORDER:) Restaraunt review!!!
Fiesta en el Boca
Spicy Salsa, cheesy enchiladas, hot rice, and the combination of meat, lettuce and cheese melting ion tortilla shell are a staple to the Mexican food. Fresh, delicious Mexican food is a challenge to find in Michigan. Although we have Mexican Town, many people have to travel a distance to get there. On The Border, Mexican Bar and Cantina is a restaurant not only found in Novi, but has other locations in MI as well. The address is 21091 Haggerty Road, and you can make reservations at (248) 449-6114. The location in Novi, is close to my home, therefore I dined at On The Border and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant is located on top a hill on Haggerty Road. It is a terrific location because it is by many stores, which gives them steady service. Being placed on top of a hill, gives them a dominate appearance, for all to see. The look of the buildings architecture is attention grabbing. The path leading up to the building is lined with benches, flowers, and the Mexican music. The stripped awnings and large purple sign gave the essence of the bright exciting environment that we may be entering. After grabbing the large wooden doors, the colors on the inside are loud, and shocking.
The atmosphere inside is like a fiesta. Music is blaring, people are conversing and I automatically felt as if this would be a fun place. The walls were a bright blue, contrasting with all the Mexican decor on the walls. All the walls were filled with colorful plates, tiles, maracas and Mexican tools and metal works. The restaurant was filled with tables and booths, some lined with tiles others were large wooden tables. The environment was fun and inviting. The decorations may have been over exaggerated in an attempt to catch the Mexican flavor, but that is why my eyes were always interested. Along with the decor the spacing of the tables and placement was perfect. There was only a small smoking section, which I took notice too, and the bar was separate from the main dining area. All of these components made me love the place even more. Along with the splendid atmosphere came the wonderful service. The service has never been an issue at On The Border. They are always friendly, and patient to all the customers. The waiter and waitresses always the perfect spicy attitude. They are easy going and are accommodating to what the customer wants or if they want to substitute items. The food has always been fresh, with no raw or undercooked items. The cooks get the meals cooked at an efficient rate, and there is minimal wait. The menu is full of delicious choices for all types of Mexican cuisine.
Although I am not a fan of Mexican food, I always enjoy the quesadillas at On The Border. My favorite type would be the simple cheese and chicken quesadilla. The chicken I get is always fresh and never dry. There is always the right amount so I can taste it in every bite. The amount of cheese the cook puts on is always to the customers liking, never too much or lacking. You also receive a side plate with guacamole on it and another side dish of your choosing. The meal is like a fiesta, with every flavor and color. The plate I had may have had a not so spicy meal,
but was still colorul, and tasty.
Starting with the appetizers, which include over ten items, not including the soups and salads. The menu then dives into the everyday meals which consist of the tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas. The menus is filled with other options of meats, meals, drinks and lunch options which are smaller portions. Prices of the food varies depending upon your order, however On the Border always has specials. When I went there the special going on, make your own combo meal. This consisted of picking a soup or salad, with an enchilada, taco, or the classics all for only $7. After the meal is the best part, dessert. On the Border has a variety of choices for all tastes. The selection of sides, was tremendous and I could not believe how many choices they had. It ranged from beans, chips, rice, corn, corn bread, and many more. By seeing this I realized that the restaurant wants to have something for everyone. The children’s menu is offered and does not contain just Mexican food, but a variety of American food as well. The desserts are well priced too and come in large portions. Also located on the menu are nutritional and allergen info. I believe the most helpful part of the menu is where they put stars to show the favorites, the menu was filled with stars which showed me exactly what I needed to know. The restaurant offers road side take out, and will walk your order out to your car. I would recommend everyone try out this delicious Mexican dining.

THANKSGIVING
yesterday was thanksgiving!! the start to the holiday season :) every year me and my sibling watch the parade on our TV and just relax in the morning. This year along wiht most years thanksgiving is celebrated at our house, which i love. It was ooo fun this year. Me andmy family had agreat dance party where we tought the adults the dances us teens would do like the cupid shuffle & what not. While they showed us "the bump" haha W ealso love to play cards so we had a great game of euchre going and intense game of spoons!! Our food was delicious, but for us we end up getting more excited about the dessert choices than the real meal. We had about 5 differnt choices of desserts just in pies/ cakes. No wonder you gain 10lbs over this break:)

santas!
So today I read in my newfeed that the Santas at the mall are wanting approval to get he H1N1 shot. Theya re scared that with all the children this year, hand sanitizer will not be enough. I mean i understand their fear and think they probably should. My issue with this is if a parent knows their kid is sick or has the swime lu, why on earth would they take them out anyway. Especially to a public place like the mall. going to see santa were there will be tons more kids. I juts hope this holiday season doesnt make anything worse.

I drive down Hines Drive to get to school and now all the Lights are up for their annual show they hold each year. midterm post!
When I signed up for this class I didnt know that it would be community based writing. However It does not matter to me, this class has been really fun and enjoyable. My past writing classes have always beem writing about a certain topic, but no thought was ever put into it. In this class my opinion matters and I have my own thoughts i can put on paper. Although at times I do think this class is a challenge. because I have never had to write about these topics, it is all new and I am learnign alot from it. I knwo I hvae writing issues and problems that I need to work out but hthis class is just the begining of my new an dimporved writing skills. I have always been slef conciuos of my wriing, because in High School I would get bad grades on my papers. So now I am just strarting new and with the help of this class I hopefully will be more comfortable and better with my writing.

revelation:)
Every Friday I wake at 7 and have to go babysit the whole day. The children I babysit for are fun, adorable, and smart!! One is a little boy just over a year old, the other is a 4 year old downsyndrom gril. Because of her needs she is more around the mental stage of a 2 yr old. Today as I got home, my brother in a joking way( he really isnt a bad person:))said hwo was babysitting the "retard". Now after I heard this i flipped out at him!! Now as I am older and am actually interacting with a special needs child, I am completly offended and alarmed by this. We were alwasy tought to never say "retard" as a adjective to describe someone. Now everytime someone uses it in that text, I tell them not too. This little girl, is the cutest smartest, helpful child. She even uses sign language for words she doesnt know because her speech is not that developed yet. This experioce just shows how sometimes it takes and event or interaction to know what is right na dwrong. Now i relize how horrible it really is to say that. This is an amazing oppportuity for me to be working with her, she has tought me alot also:)

MLK
MLK was a terrific writer and knew how to express himself through his words in writing. "Letters From A Birmingham Jail" has many good qoutes found throughout, and I would liek to share a few. MLK made multiple outstanding qoutes throughout, but oene that stood out was when he said " We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hatefull words an dactions of the bad people but for the appaling silence of the good people" As a child i always learned to not just stand there when someone is being picked on. You are doing just as much damage not saying anything than being the one hurting him. Martin Luther King Jr. makes that perfectly clear in this sentence. ANothjer one that cought my eye was "oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever" This is a qoute full of home and freedom. just by those few words. I took form that sentence that after awhile when things are rough, there will always be somethign within pulling you up,and make you strive for more. Especially back then, the africans had nothign to live for, but soon the thgouht of freedomand justice became alive in them and somehting to fight for. MLK's words are inspiring na dcan be realted to much today as well.

Homework blog...
I decided to respond to part C of #6. the first question it asked was should everyone be willing to make sacrafices during a time of war. I responded by saying yes, because if the men and women are making sacrafices to die and fight for us when they may not even support the war, why should we sit here and live a fabulous life. They are makeing way lager sacrafices for us than we will have too, so I think people should be willing to make sacrafices. The next question partC asked was, should people pay higher taxes? I think this can be debated both ways, and I am honestly torn on this question. I guess in order to help the war proceed we may have to pay higher taxes, but in this economy I believe that would be difficult to do. The third part is saying how far ae Americans willing to go if they support the war, and I believe that if they truely support it than they are willing to do anything. Lastly Bush was tellig people they can have their cake and eat it too, because he was not highering taxes while in war. Therefore people were not hurting from the war or having to pay anything anything for it.

chapter 1...
So this whole chapter one... is alittle boring to me. I have to be honest i skimmed through the whole chapter and never actually read it. I do remember the part on political topics. The topic of politics is rhetorical to me, because I have written many current events papers and given my veiwpoint on opinion papers. The political aspects of papers ar enot just about history and what not, it involves the economy and life events. The negative side that many people see in politics also turns them off to writing about it. One needs to find their special interests in the topic they are writing about so they can be passionate and write alot. Writing is a fun way to get your point and opinions aross, using analagies(spelling might be off) or other types of ways. This chapter mentions how this book could only be given to first or second year students, because it is understandable to them. It says how it may seem abstract now but throughout the book is it all becomes concrete. Hopefully this explains some points in chapter 1:)

the 4 freedoms....
On thursday we all went to a lecture/ presentation on the four freedoms. To be honest I was not positive if I knew what the four freedoms were. However since I went and saw the photos and heard the speech I am now more educated on the topic. We are going to have to make our own creative project on one of the freedoms, which I gotta say im a bit nervouse for. I am not artistic or creative at all haha... so this will be a challenge. It will be interseting tough to see what freedom we all choose and how we view it:)
